The controller of personal data is Autonoleggio Di Meglio s.a.s. di Giuseppe Di Meglio (hereinafter also “Di Meglio Rent”), registered office at Via T. Morgera, 5 - 80074 Casamicciola Terme, VAT no. 07700501211.

For any privacy request: info@dimegliorent.com, tel. 081 980312.

2. Types of data processed

Through the website https://dimegliorent.com we may process, in relation to the services requested:

  • Identification and contact data (first name, surname, email, phone) sent through the contact or booking forms;
  • Booking data (pick-up/return dates, chosen vehicle, rate, notes, payment method);
  • Technical browsing data (IP address, server logs, session identifiers) needed for the security and operation of the website;
  • Cookies and similar technologies (see section 8).

Providing the data marked as mandatory in the forms is necessary to handle your request; without it the booking or contact cannot be completed.

3. Purposes and legal bases

Data are processed for the following purposes:

  1. Managing bookings and rental contracts — performance of pre-contractual measures and of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
  2. Customer support and replies to requests — performance of the contract or request of the data subject (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
  3. Tax, accounting and legal obligations — legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).
  4. Website security and abuse prevention — legitimate interest of the controller (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  5. Communications strictly related to the service (e.g. order confirmation, bank transfer details) — performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

We do not carry out profiling or unsolicited direct marketing through this website. We do not use third-party analytics tools on the website.

4. How data are processed

Data are processed electronically and, where necessary, on paper, in line with the stated purposes and with appropriate security measures (authorised access, backups, professional hosting).

5. Retention

  • Booking and contract data: for the duration of the relationship and for the periods required by civil and tax law (generally up to 10 years for accounting records).
  • Contact requests not resulting in a contract: for the time needed to handle the request and, unless you object, for a maximum of 24 months.
  • Technical logs: for a limited period, normally no longer than 12 months, unless required by law or for the investigation of offences.

6. Disclosure and recipients

Data may be disclosed to parties processing them on behalf of the controller, including:

  • the hosting and web infrastructure provider;
  • the email service provider used to send booking notifications;
  • tax/legal advisers, where needed for compliance;
  • competent authorities, when required by law.

We do not sell or transfer data to third parties for marketing purposes.

7. Transfers outside the EU

Data are stored mainly on servers in the European Union or in countries covered by an adequacy decision. Where services based outside the EU are used (e.g. some email or map providers), transfers comply with Articles 44–49 GDPR (standard contractual clauses or other safeguards).

8. Cookies and similar technologies

The website uses:

  • Technical and session cookies (e.g. PHPSESSID) essential for admin login, the booking cart and security. They do not require consent.
  • Preference cookies (e.g. cookie banner acceptance, chosen language) to remember your choice.

We do not use profiling or advertising cookies. External content (e.g. Google Fonts, maps) may involve processing by the respective providers: please see their privacy notices.

You can manage cookies in your browser settings; disabling technical cookies may limit some features (e.g. completing a booking).

9. Your rights

As a data subject you have the right to:

  • access your data and obtain a copy;
  • request rectification or completion;
  • request erasure (within the limits of the law);
  • obtain restriction of processing;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interest;
  • receive your data in a structured format (portability), where applicable;
  • withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent, without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

To exercise your rights write to info@dimegliorent.com. We will reply within the legal deadlines (normally 30 days).

10. Complaints to the supervisory authority

You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali) (www.garanteprivacy.it), or with the authority of the EU country where you live or work.

11. Online bookings

All bookings sent through the website are subject to confirmation by Di Meglio Rent (vehicle availability, data check, receipt of the bank transfer for “Pay now” rates). Cancellations or changes must be communicated in advance and agreed with our office.

The financial and contractual terms of the rental (insurance, limits of use, customer obligations, etc.) are those set out on the page Rental terms and conditions, which form an integral part of the relationship with the customer.

12. Website content and limitation of liability

The controller strives to keep information on vehicles, prices and availability up to date; however, clerical errors, overbookings or technical unavailability may occur. In such cases the customer will be contacted with alternatives or a refund according to the rental terms.

Vehicle images are indicative; the actual model may vary depending on fleet availability. Links to external websites (e.g. social networks, maps) are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for third-party content.
